BEST. PRODUCT. EVER

How is it that I've run 4 marathons and did not know about this product? Truly, it's hard to believe.

I picked up an Amphipod handheld water bottle, almost as an afterthought, to use on my 20-miler. I've never considered holding a water bottle in a race (or long run for that matter)because, well, I couldn't imagine having to actually hold it. My hands tend to stop working in the later stages of a hard run. A race? Forget about it.

Immediately, I knew I loved this product. You absolutely do not have to hold it at all. In fact, you can't even shake your hand hard enough to get it to come off on its own. Its perfectly sculptured design is very, very comfortable. Also, I love that it has a zip pocket- perfect for carrying gels, car key, etc.

The only downside is the weight of carrying water. So, it may not be for every situation. Also, the sound of sloshing water got my attention- but just a little.

Has anyone else come across a great product by accident like this?
Do tell.

Have a great Monday, all. I will leave you with this adorable version of Imma Be:

  1. I carry a Nathan bottle on everything approaching 2 hours or more... (unless a well supported race) and agree that it is much less impact than you'd imagine. Having the fluid and gel is a trade off I will go along with:)

  2. I have that same bottle and love it. I hardly notice it when I'm running now.

  4. I love my handheld CamelBak 22oz, but it doesn't have a wrapper like that. I have found some wrappers, but have not bought one yet.

I have seen these Amphipods, and really think they just look "cool". I am glad to hear they deliver on their looks.

  5. I use a larger Nathan handheld for training runs and I just picked up a small Nathan bottle (very much like your Amphipod) for races. I think it will work well. Should be easy to refill on the move if necessary.

  6. I carry a handheld FuelBelt 20oz bottle that I take with me anytime I go longer than 12 miles or if the month is July or August...

  7. I LOVE these! I don' thave the smaller 10oz, but have the larger 20 oz. anything from 6 miles to 12 I'll make sure to have one of these in my hand!

THe best part is that because it shakes up you can always be sure that any powdered drink is all mixed up when you drink it.
